Esckaz.com's Interview with Group - Bzikebi

Hello Bzikebi. First of all our congratulations on the victory in the Georgian national selection! Please introduce yourselves?
Giorgi Shiolashvili: You can call me Gio-Bzi. I am 10 years old. I love music, especially classics. I play the piano, love scene, viewers and apploads.

Mariam Kikuashvili: Mari-Bza. I like this name. I am 10 years old, and it was great victory for me that together with friends we will now represent Georgia at the international Junior Eurovision contest in Cyprus. I love to sing and love my friends – wasps.

Mariam Tatulashvili: There will be two Mariams representing Georgia at the Eurovision! This is so cool! I am Mari-Bzu. I love school, studies, friends, roller-skates, and most of all I love to sing with my friends. We always sing, or rather buzz different songs. We sing in three vocals. This is the characteristic of Georgian traditional songs. In short, we are buzzing in Georgia.
- What was your first thought when you realized that you are the winners of the competition?
Gio-Bzi: I was very glad and began to cry, although I was aware that my dad won`t like it. It is because I was taught that men do not cry, but I couldn’t do anything.

Mari-Bza: Everyone surrounded us, and started kissing. I was afraid they may crush us. We are the smallest ones. This was a joke. And actually, I also cried.

Mari-Bzu: We all cried and sang together. When I watched it on record I really laughed, we looked very funny.
Was the victory difficult to achive? Had you tough competition?
Gio-Bzi: We were younger than everyone else. We had very strong competitors.

Mari- Bza: We knew all the songs in the selection by heart. All the songs were good, but I like our one most of all.

Mari-Bzu: At the concert, we didn`t sang very good. I was not thinking we can win, but people voted for us and the jury also gave us a chance. For Europe we will be better prepared and will sing better. We will fulfill the expectations of voters.
Tell us how your band was created? Have you in fact applied for the contest separately? Why "Wasps“ ?
Gio-Bzi: Yes, we have applied separately, but the project manager Tamar Skhvitaridze suggested us come together and created a name for us.

Mari-Bza: Tamriko gathered us and said that she wants us to perform together at the contest. Will you be a group of wasps ? We looked at each other and realized that we really are wasps.

Mari-Bzu: Tamriko suggested us to gather more information about wasps. No one writes good about them. And we want to say that in nature there is nothing wrong. Wasps awake the nature with their buzz.

Gio-Bzi: Like Green police, wasps create the order in the nature.

Mari-Bza: We are singing wasps and we are waking-up the nature with a song Mari- Bzu: And also we wake- up the sun , so that it does not go to sleep. We hope it will stay awake for Cyprus.
What is the history of the song creation? Tell us what it is about, if someone still hadn’t understood?
Gio-Bzi: We were asked what musical direction we have chosen for our song. Everyone had their own opinion and we created own themes. I created own interpretation of classic tune of Rimsky- Korsakov.

Mari-Bza: I created the folk melody for the flight theme.

Mari-Bzu: And I was for electronic music. Gio-Bzi: Finally, our musical director, Giga Kukhianidze took into consideration our thoughts and the song came out like this.

Mari-Bza: Lyrics didn`t cause controversy. We are wasps, and we have created own language, which we really like.

Mari-Bzu: If people still do not understand from our clip what we sing about, I explain that with our song we awake the nature.
How will you present your song on the stage of Limassol? Will your performance be similar to the national selection one, or you plan to change it for the international audience. To help it better understand your song?
Gio-Bzi: What we have presented at the national selection, was rather poor. We are not happy and adults are as well. Certainly there will be many changes.

Mari-Bza: Song is very complicated and adults are trying not to make us dance a lot.

Mari-Bzu: The main thing is that we learn now how to transmit love. This is our secret. It is the love with which we should cast a spell on Europe.
What are your preparation plans for the competition? Actually, had a victory at the national selection changed your life?
Gio-Bzi: Preparations for the national competition were very interesting. Before we never had created a song. Here we were treated as the real musicians. Everyone asked our opinion, many spoke with us, worked with us.

Mari-Bza: Now that we have won, we have started lessons of English, psychological training, choreography, music lessons and promo tours.

Mari-Bzu: In general, everything is extremely interesting!
Who is working with you as vocal coach, choreographer, who is preparing your costumes?
Gio-Bzi: Sopho is our vocal coach. She will travel with us to the competition and we will introduce her to you.

Mari-Bza: Our Choreographer is Pasha. He is Russian, so he speaks Georgian with the Funny accent, but he understand well the language of the wasps and plastics.

Mari-Bzu: Costumers were drawn and prepared by Khatuna. Now she chooses for us costumes for Cyprus.
Have you received any advice on the preparation from last year’s representative Mariam Romelashvili?
Gio-Bzi: Mariam visited us in the summer and she was very pleased with our song.

Mari-Bza: Mariam announced our victory at the contest and first congratulated us.

Mari-Bzu:Mariam said that we have unforgettable days ahead of us and gave us many good tips.
Have you watched Junior Eurovision in the past, do you have some personal favorites?
Gio-Bzi: Head of the organization Tamriko showed us concerts from the past years and we have thoroughly discussed all the performances.

Mari-Bza: But this years there will be a jury, and the contest will be different.

Mari-Bzu: We liked a lot of performances, but there was no such a song as we have.
Do you follow the news from other countries, are you interested to find who are their representatives?
Gio-Bzi: Along with Tamriko we are getting familiar with each participant and we are happy that your site offers a lot of new information for us.

Mari-Bza: We want to prepare a surprise for every other contestant. Thus, we read everything about them.

Mari-Bzu: We are preparing interesting games and songs for our future friends.
What is your aim for the contest? Do you want to win or Just want to have a good time and make many new friends?
Gio-Bzi: We want to win, because our country had war and lot of people are in sorrow. Our victory can please the whole country.

Mari-Bza: We want to make new friends, and want them to understand our song.

Mari-Bzu: If other countries like our song. We`ll happy, but if they don`t like – we will be very sad.
Do you generally like contests and rivalry , have you taken part in any competitions until this?
Gio-Bzi: Mari- Bzu and I were participated in the contest Ana- Bana. There we found some friends. There we just sang songs written by others. Now we are the team and we’re going to Europe to represent the whole country.

Mari-Bza: I also took part in competitions, but I don`t like them a lot. I like when all are the winners.

Mari-Bzu: At the national competition other participants were disappointed. Everyone wanted to win and all sang well. If I could, I would send all to Cyprus.
Is it hard to simultaneously prepare for the competition and study is school?
Gio-Bzi: We were released from the school for one month. We are all studying very well and learn quickly, so we will catch-up our classmates after the contest.

Mari-Bza: Now our school now is Eurovision Song Contest.

Mari-Bzu: Why people can`t invent European school, where children will be studied by song, and then met children in different countries.
What are your favorite subjects?
Gio-Bzi: I love music, mathematics and nature.

Mari-Bza: I also love nature, and also debates.

Mari-Bzu: Music, Nature and foreign languages.
Tell us, how do you spend your spare time, if you have any?
Gio-Bzi: In my spare time I like to sit at the computer and play.

Mari-Bza: I like to turn to the mirror. I have long hair and I try to do different hairstyles.

Mari-Bzu: I love roller- skating and playing in the yard.
What are your plans after the competition? Do all of you want to become professional singers in the future?
Gio-Bzi: Currently, I `m just playing, but if many like my game then I would seriously learn music.

Mari-Bza: I want the band "wasps" to became popular. If we win, maybe adults also can help, and we will create a lot of new songs.

Mari-Bzu: We will work a lot, will learn and will create interesting music. Music of nature.
Thank you for the interview, and good luck to you in the preparations!
Gio-Bzi: Thank you for your support.

Mari-Bza: Let us have the sun shining at the upcoming contest in Cyprus.

Mari-Bzu: FUN IN THE SUN!
